The system uses a Germanium front lens to focus Long Wavelength Infrared Light (LWIL) onto the uncooled detector. The detector is made up of 160x120 pixels and operates at a frame rate of 20 frames p/sec.
A built-in DSP (Digital Signal Processing) technology enhances and adjusts the image to provide a 320x240 interpolated output. Additional features such as Enhanced Image Processing, White Hot/Black Hot Polarity, and a fast 5 second start-up time.
Once the image is processed, it is sent to the micro display which uses a miniature LCD panel to display the image, which is magnified by a 10x Power lens giving the user a bright clear screen to view the image. The display and optics are sealed in a housing that provides diopter adjustment and 27mm eye relief.
The optics is made of High Speed Carbon Hardened Germanium (HSCHG) to provide excellent transmission.
The 25mm optics provides an 11º by 8.5º FOV (Field of View) which will translate to about 1.5x magnification. With this optic a human target could be recognized at over 250 meters.
An optional 3x A/Focal Extender Lens is available that will give the 4x magnification through the PHX-MAT-14-SIX.
